Creative Language Design is built on a foundation of honesty, respect, creativity, and compassion. We strive to provide exemplary services to our clients all the while maintaining high academic standards. We do so by integrating the three academic fields of Applied Linguistics, Positive Psychology, and Creativity Studies. This research-based trio is blended to provide outstanding products and learning experiences for clients.
Applied Linguistics provides the foundation for studies at Creative Language Design. We use the knowledge gained from the integrated fields of Second Language Acquisition, Sociolinguistics and Language Teaching to provide clients with an effective and practical approach to learning a foreign or second language.
We also balance sound instructional practices with principles from Positive Psychology. By doing so, we strive to facilitate each student’s positive learning experience. Students connect to what matters to them in an environment that promotes mindful learning. As an athlete feels flow when practicing his or her treasured sport, so too can language learners have peak experiences as they decipher a new code and create their narrative in a new tongue. Therefore, we use processes to help individuals:
- Enjoy the learning process
- Engage with the instructor, content and materials.
- Meet their language learning goals.
- Feel confident and satisfied using their newly learned skills.
Furthermore, we espouse creativity as a fundamental aspect of language learning. Some individuals may say, “I’m not good at learning a language. It’s hard for me to analyze all that grammar.” At CLD, we would respond that while logic and analytical skills are used to learn grammar points, language learning is so much more than grammar. Learning a new language opens our world to new possibilities. It is a way to learn new perspectives and cultural nuances. It’s a journey that leads to new ways of communicating in professional, social and private realms. The experience can be gratifying, eye opening and uplifting when the learning environment promotes creativity and self actualization.
